Leadership As A Commissioner

Commissioners continue to vote in near lock step with City staff recommendations. We need independent thinkers who make wise choices based on facts in full transparency. As Commissioner I will vote to stream live Commission work sessions that would have uncovered a $1 million fix to Freedom Hall Pool instead of a vote for a $37 million decision (and $55 million with interest) of an aquatic center just hours later in a Commission meeting.

Eliminate Wasteful Spending

City spending is out of control and City Management and Commissioners aren’t listening to its citizens. The recent 28¢ property tax hike that includes an aquatic center that, including interest, costs $55 million. As a Commissioner I will do my homework and ask the tough questions. I will vote to stop the aquatic center until we fully understand its costs and give back the 8¢ in property tax until we do.



Roads Before Rooftops

Our neighborhoods are besieged by residential developments that damage nearby neighborhood property values and create safety risks due to poor roads and infrastructure. The infrastructure must be in place and buffer zones established to protect property values. That’s what I’ll stand for as your Commissioner.

Cops Before Cameras

I’m the only candidate to ask the Johnson City Police to provide me with a briefing on their use over a 90 minute session. I want to know the facts and the impact of my decision before I vote on any matter. I believe that we have too many Flock cameras in our City. As your Commissioner I will listen to citizens on my decision on limiting or eliminating their use. I do believe that we need to hire more police and firemen and that they should be appropriately paid for the risks they take on our behalf. We need to fully staff our departments that protect us.



No Data Centers In Johnson City

Data centers and bitcoin mining operations need space away from our City to operate without negatively impacting our families. As your Commissioner I will vote no to any proposals to locate either data centers or bitcoin mining operations in our City.
